Bank History

Growth

Randall State Bank was chartered in 1928 by founder, J.H. Brekken and local investors. With dedication and commitment it grew, continuing to add products and services that met the needs of customers, agriculture and business.  In 1964, Carroll B. Kinseth purchased controlling interest in the bank. The Pioneer Building, a Story City landmark, was purchased and renovated in 1972 and remains the current Story City location.  The bank was renamed Randall-Story State Bank.  The bank became an affiliate of Ames National Corporation in 1995. An extensive renovation of the bank's facade was completed in 2004.  In April 2012, the bank expanded into the Garner and Klemme communities and changed the bank name to Reliance State Bank.

Reliance State Bank - You can rely on us.

The purpose of updating our name was to show our dedication to all our communities.  Through the process, our goal was to identify a name that clearly communicates who we are.  The word "reliance" means "the act of relying; trust, dependability, and confidence."  These are important attributes we are focused on delivering every day through responsive, reliable service, backed by financial strength.   Although our name and logo have been updated, you can count on the same great people and the same great organization to take care of your banking needs.  We truly believe in our tag line - You can rely on us.
