The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau came out with guidance concerning unemployment scams, particularly if someone receives a 1099-G for unemployment benefits they did not receive.

CFPB Warns Consumers of Unemployment Scams
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau this week warned consumers of potential scams involving unemployment benefit claims. One way consumers may discover they've been victims of such a scam is if they receive a 1099-G tax form for unemployment benefits they did not apply for or receive, the CFPB said. The bureau also posted a video outlining four steps individuals can take to report unemployment benefits fraud and protect themselves and others. Read more.
